This Sunday at Bristol - Chicken Little Was Right

This Sunday we continue our journey through the Book of Revelation when our focus will be Revelation 8:1-13. Most of the chapters are short - a good thing when you read about the devastation and catastrophe that occurs.

Do you remember the fable about “Chicken Little”? His famous phrase was, “The sky is falling.”  That central phrase has been applied to people accused of being unreasonably afraid, or those trying to incite an unreasonable fear in those around them. That phrase today is a common idiom indicating a mistaken belief that the sky is falling. In Revelation 8 we discover that Chicken Little was right - the sky is falling (read this chapter).

Revelation 8 is about the sky, and just about everything else, falling. This chapter continues this horrible time in the world known as the Great Tribulation when the wrath of God is amplified. Seven trumpets are soon to sound - each one introduces us to another disaster on Planet Earth. Seven angels are assigned the task of blowing each trumpet separately - four are blown and there is a short pause. Two trumpets follow and then a longer pause. Finally the seventh trumpet is blown and that ushers in the pouring of the seven bowls of God’s wrath upon the earth - the final phase of the Great Tribulation.

Since we know the Bible is true, we should speak to our loved ones and friends about their relationship to Jesus! We may not want to say, "The sky is falling" but we do want them to know that only a relationship with Jesus will make a difference.

I look forward to seeing you Sunday morning at 10:30 as we continue this fascinating trip through the last book of the Bible. God is teaching us truths one Sunday at a time.

Remember, you are loved and appreciated!

Pastor Terry
