This Sunday at Bristol - Worldwide Chaos is Coming to a Place Near You
Thursday, March 8, 2012 at 8:21AM This Sunday morning we continue our study of the Book of Revelation as we look at 6:1-17.
Revelation 6 is about the beginning of the opening of the seven seals. We studied this last week. The only One who was worthy to take the scroll and open the seals is the Lamb - Jesus.
Revelation 6 begins the awful time in world history that is called the Great Tribulation. When we come to Revelation 6 Christians have been taken to heaven. Now those who remain in the world will face the true wrath of God (not a very nice picture). Revelation 6 begins the judgments of God on a world who has chosen rejection rather than acceptance of God’s love. They have been “thumbing” their noses at God, but then there comes a time when they are starkly aware of the horrible decision they have made in rejecting the only way to heaven.
We know that God is long-suffering. The Apostle Peter says that, “God is not willing that any perish.” It does not please Him to punish mankind for their rejection of His love for them that He has displayed through His Son. He wants all people to be saved (again Peter says that). The Great Tribulation is not the worst of His punishment as we shall see later in the Book of Revelation. Eventually everyone who has rejected Him will spend eternity in the lake of fire (again, not a very nice picture).
I hope you will make it a priority to be here Sunday as we continue our study of this facinating book. I am committed to teaching all of God's Word and not just the passages that are pleasant. Revelation 6-19 are not delightful chapters, but we need to know what God's Word says. Also, John tells us that there is a special blessing for those who read, hear and live the Book of Revelation (Revelation 1:3) and not just parts of it. I am dedicated to helping you to have strength and resilience in your faith.
Remember, you are loved and appreciated. I will see you Sunday!
Pastor Terry
