This Sunday at Bristol - Mission Emphasis

This Sunday we will have as our special guests Pastor Stephen Burgstahler and his family. The emphasis is missions and Stephen, Gayle, Charis and Micah are headed to South Africa as missionaries with the Missionary Church and World Partners (the mission's arm of the Missionary Church).

Currently the Burgstahler family serve in Gary, Indiana at the Living Waters Church. Stephen is the pastor of this urban congregation.

As a congregation we want to be involved in missions - reaching people for Jesus. There are people in South Africa who need to hear the message of love and forgiveness. We will likely never meet these people on this side of eternity. It is great that God has placed missions and country of South Africa on the hearts of the Burgstahler family. They will be our arms and hands in touching people in the name of Christ.

Please make a special effort the join us this Sunday morning at 10:30. You will be glad you did!

I love and appreciate each one of you and hope to see you Sunday.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

I received a message from Matt Copeland regarding help that is needed immediately for Vacation Bible School.

Here is the announcement: Becky Goodman from BUMC has requested some help on this Friday, June 24th from approx. 5-8 P.M.  She is looking for a volunteer (or several) to head to the White Pigeon Church of Christ with our trailer to load up tear down and load up the VBS materials needed for the Bristol VBS.

I just got back from a VBS prayer meeting at BUMC and I can report that God is getting ready to do a great work, we don't want to miss out on this event.  There will be many changed lives.

If you could help, please let the pastor or Tressa know before Thursday evening.

Thanks!

This Sunday at Bristol - Father's Day

During this recent study series on the family titled, "Lean on Me", we have explored the role of the husband and wife, the importance of raising children using God's standard, the state of the family in today's culture, the importance of grace seasoning family relationships and the hope that exists for the fractured family.

This Sunday we conclude the series examining the question, "What does a husband want in a marriage relationship?" What does he want that he will probably never tell his wife? What needs to happen to make the marriage bond between husband and wife strong?

We will explore these questions this Sunday during our 10:30 a.m. worship service. As we do we will look at three characters from the Bible who teach us lessons on how to meet the needs of a husband and consequently develop a strong relationship.

If you are married my guess is that you want to have a vibrant and fulfilling marriage. The Bible gives us some answers on how that can happen. I am not talking about a fantasy or a dream, but reality!

I hope to see you this Sunday on this very special day - Father's Day! For every father present we have a gift for you - our small way of saying thank you for making a difference as you seek to live a Godly life.

I love and appreciate each one of you and look forward to seeing you on Father's Day!

This Sunday at Bristol - HOPE for the Family

This Sunday the teaching series, “Lean on Me”, continues and then concludes the following Sunday with Father’s Day.

This Sunday we will examine the family of Jacob and some of the struggles within the family as their lives unfold before as portrayed to us in Genesis 37-50.

“Dysfunction”, according to the dictionary, is defined as “any malfunctioning part or element”. It is further defined as, “a consequence of social practice or behavior pattern that undermines the stability of a social system”. There was plenty of dysfunction in Jacob's family and it caused horrible hurt.

Many families, inside and outside the church, experience some level of dysfunction. This is due to what happened in Genesis 3 when sin entered the world through Adam and Eve. The bottom line is that no one cannot escape dysfunction totally, but there is HOPE!

The BIG question is how we plot a course through the dysfunction that does exist. Some answers are found in the lives of Jacob and his family – but particularly in the life of Joseph. God wants us to be healthy and strong - it is His plan to help us as we face dysfunction in its varied forms.

I hope that you will make it a major priority to be here - we are going to have a great time together.

Remember, you are loved and appreciated.
